Star Light, Star Brite

This week has been about maintenance. I have a feeling every week as a boat owner is about maintenance. No complaints, just working on making the adjustments to my daily schedule.

We took out the old carpet, exposing a white-painted cabin sole. We're brainstorming other options, whether it be the traditional teak and holly, cork, or the new styles of vinyl. It is such as small area to cover that I'm not worried about making the wrong choice. If we don't like it, it will be easy/cheap enough to swap out.

I want her to be pretty. I want her to be salty, yes. But I also want her to be pretty. I want people walking by to stop to admire. I want people to know she is loved. Therefore, she needs to always be clean and her teak needs to be finished. So this morning I tried the Star Brite Premium Teak Care Kit.

The teak will be replaced when we haul out next spring. But in the meantime, I will try to make this as presentable as I can. The bottles come in three stages- Cleaner, Brightener, and Oil. I used a green pad to rub in the cleaner, a stiff brush to work in the brightener, and a tough shop paper towel to wipe in the oil. I only did the companionway and handrails. I left the toerails for another day. It was a lot of work for an obviously temporary improvement. I can only imagine the work it takes for a larger boat. Plus, my face is burned again. I included the before and after photos of her teak from today. I gotta say... I do love giving her my effort and attention.
